WHY PRAY FOR AMERICA?
It’s simple, we are in need of God. Our pledge of allegiance recounts that we are “one nation under God”, is this legacy a reality or ruse? Our currency states that it is “in God We Trust”, are we trusting or testing God? We pray for America because God is our only hope – not a pledge or seal – we are a people called to reflect His character. America needs a corporate encounter with the living God who rules over the hearts of every man, woman and child in our country.
PROMISE OF GOD
God is the One who gave us this promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, the I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” It is not enough that we pray for the hearts of those around us to be changed. Or that we have ceremonial prayer acknowledging the God of our forefathers. We are at a crossroads in America with God – it is our time to pray authentically for every heart, especially for our own to be called to repentance. And, that we are a people willing to live lives worthy of His Name. Then, we live beyond our own selfish desires toward the future hope of Christ Jesus upon the earth.
WHAT I LEARNED AT THE SUMMONS 2012, DC
1.HOPE FOR PRAYER:
□ Our leaders desire to serve
□ Our leaders desire prayer
□ Our leaders are concerned for the future
□ We have neglected the great need to pray for our leaders
2. HOPE FOR THE FUTURE:
□ Staffers, yearn for God & The Word
□ Word of God accessible & available in government
□ David’s Tent is a move of the HS among youth
□ We are living in the greatest period of discipleship in world history
□ This work is only accomplished by the Holy Spirit.
3. HOPE OF THE NATIONS:
□ Nations across the globe are praying & looking to America
□ The church in other nations are praying for us
□ Will we join them?
4. HOPE FOR HOLY HANDS IN PRAYER:
□ We need a movement in prayer recognizing the holiness of God
□ We need holy lives with clean hands lifted in prayer
□ We need corporate prayer, yielding our lives to Him.
5. HIS BANNER YET WAVES:
□ His banner still waves strong over us
□ He is preparing the way for us to turn back to Him
□ Our presidential candidates may both represent judgment
□ Blessing is not automatic, have we offended God?
Like Esther, if we do not stand in such a time as this, we will perish but He will indeed bring about His salvation by another means.
America is at an Esther moment.
