Biggest questions of this age are, “Where is the truth?” and “What is the Truth?”
Prophet Isaiah looked at his world one day and made a profound statement: ‘Truth is dying in the streets.Today, Jesus Followers, who are looking and serving inside and outside their prayer closets, are asking the same thing.
Truth is being hidden in scandals, bad media and lies, and people are searching everywhere to find it.
Most of us would like to be like Superman — committed to a “never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way.” But in reality, Truth is the one battle we don’t have to fight. Truth has already been fought for and won.
Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He delivered that at Calvary and made it public at the tomb.
His battle to set us free was necessary because:
- The Truth is “there is no one righteous, not even one” (Romans 3:10).
- The Truth is “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
- The Truth is “at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6).
We live in a world where truth can mean a lot of things. But the Truth of Jesus’ death on the cross to forgive your sins, the truth of his resurrection from the grave to give you eternal life, is the only Truth that can set you free from a “never-ending battle.”
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36). That is his love story in eleven words.
Novelist Ernest Hemingway was once asked to write a full story in six words. Legend has it that the novelist responded: “For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.”
In this spirit of simple, yet profound brevity, can you write a full and truthful story of your life in six words? How about seven?
Here is mine: Broken-hearted, redeemed, set-free, and loved. That is TRUTH and it will preach!
