On “The Five” on FOX network, a liberal member of this media group offered a common misconception about God. While dialoging why moderate Muslims aren’t more outspoken about extreme radical Islam, one of the co-hosts stated that “Islam & Christians shared the same God.”
No! No! No! Not true! This is a flat emphatic & resounding lie! It’s impossible according to the Quran and the Bible.
Here is the Biblical and Historical Account:
Islam shares the same Biblical events & patriarchs, right down to Abraham. At this juncture, the Jews & Islam seem to be cohesive in their scriptural similarities, along with most Christians.
Then there is a very divisive split in the storyline & resulting lineage. Abraham was promised a son by God, despite his advanced age, and his aging wife Sarah was barren. Sarah went to Abraham after a time of not seeing God do a miracle, and pleaded with her husband to sleep with her Egyptian servant Hagar. This was a choice by Sarah & Abraham. As was the custom in those days, the baby produced in this union would have to be a surrogate by Hagar for Sarah and Abraham’s heir.
The Lord God foretold unto Abraham, “Your son will be the father of many nations.” A son was eventually born of Hager with Abraham’s seed, and was named “Ishmael”. Hager, Sarah and Abraham made this happen by their lack of faith in what God had planned. Thirteen years later, fulfilling the Lord’s prophesy, yet another child was born, this time of Sarah, and was named “Isaac.”
As time passed there came the day when Ishmael bragged he was more revered and his father’s favorite. After this reached Sarah and Abraham’s ears, Hagar and Ishmael were sent out into the desert by Abraham, and the linage was then broken.
Hagar feared she and her son would die of thirst & hunger, but the Lord of Grace came upon them, and provided for their needs.
In keeping with His promise to the promised son of Abraham, The Lord stated Ishmael would also be the “father of many nations,” but “many would he raise his hand against, and many would raise their hands against him.” Ishmael became the father of the Arab nations, while Jacob, Isaac’s son, became the father of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
The Arabs & the Israelites have been battling since. Allah, the Islamic deity, cannot be known personally according to the Quran, as opposed to the Judeo-Christian God — Who is a personal, loving God.
According to historical accounts, the Muslim conquests referred to as the Islamic conquests or Arab conquests,] began with the Islamic prophet Muhammad in the 7th century. He established a new unified polity in the Arabian Peninsula and saw a century of rapid expansion of Muslim power.
They grew well beyond the Arabian Peninsula in the form of a Muslim empire with an area of influence and a march of death that stretched from the borders of China and India, across Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Sicily, and the Iberian Peninsula, to the Pyrenees as recorded by Edward Gibbon in The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. The Islamic laws called for the killing or subduing of non-believers, cutting off of limbs, beheadings, sexual mutilations, floggings, etc. For the unspeakable crime of criticizing Muhammad, (Islam’s prophet) or Allah, (the moon god of Islam,) the penalty is death!
The Crusades were a result of these conquests. It was military campaigns sanctioned by the Latin Roman Catholic Church during the High Middle Ages and Late Middle Ages. In 1095, Pope Urban II proclaimed the First Crusade with the stated goal of restoring Christian access to holy places in and near Jerusalem. Many historians and some of those involved at the time, like Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, give equal precedence to other papal-sanctioned military campaigns undertaken for a variety of religious, economic, and political reasons.
Women’s rights under most Islamic groups became and are in effect non-existent. Our God tells us to love our enemies, which sharply contrasts with the extreme Islamic teachings that state: Enemies of Islam should be made to convert or perish!
Our Lord Jesus and Abba Father abhor lying, but this is allowed in Islam, the term being (tagiyya) “if it furthers Islamic purposes”. How could any followers of Islam ever be trusted making promises or swearing oaths? Certainly not in signing treaties or serving all mankind.
This was evidenced during the last Hamas vs. Israel conflict whereby the Palestinians signed & summarily broke 19-cease fire treaties in succession. The list of similarities between what “Allah” and the Judeo-Christian God teaches, remain so varied & extremely opposite in doctrinal differences this could not possibly be the same deity we all worship.
The God of Abraham, Isaac, & Joseph, the One Whom said of the Jews, they are “My Chosen People” and these being the very Jews hated by many Muslims. Same God? NO!
I know of no examples of Assembly of Gods, Baptists or Lutherans lopping off heads, or Hindus & Buddhists proclaiming: “Convert or die!” There exist no incidents reported of Methodists blowing up busses, or Presbyterians killing little children, simply because they had American coins in their pockets.
As stated one of the greatest waves of killing people over religion and territory came during the Crusades. Remember it was started by Muslims who had moved from one country to another to capture and kill Catholics and Evangelicals.
If the so-called “Islamic moderates” are really concerned about the extremist elements within their ranks, they should as any respected organized faith, police their own. Muslims worldwide need to take complete responsibility for the grievous excesses of their own religion’s extremes.
They alone have the burden of showing the world the “extremists’ are in the minority and the “moderates” indeed control Islam & its doctrines! They have a duty to speak out & condemn the more radical elements in their ranks. It is to this endeavor we who are Jesus Followers must pray and work. The first step in being used to do this is to pray. The prayer initiative is LJ-STS Lord Jesus, Save Their Souls!
